We have started another sidecar project. We have wanted to build a second sidecar for while and have been thinking about the design, the size of the metal tubing and finish etc. And now we have been thinking about the design and how it relates to riding the bicycle.
When you add an extra wheel to a bike, straight lines won’t be a problem but turning left will be difficult. If you turn right you will be lifting the wheel off the ground but turning left you will be turning into the wheel and will need to turn far more slower. Camber of the road can also affect the riding of the bike.
The pictures show the progress and how we are trying to fix this problem. We are building a pivot system which will allow the sidecar to lift when turning right or left and hopefully will make it possible to ride the bike normally. We’re on a journey.
